WHAT IS THE „ZERTIFIKAT DEUTSCH“?

The Zertifikat Deutsch (ZD) is an internationally recognised certificate that is geared to level B1.

The ZD proves that you have solid foundational knowledge in German colloquial language which allows you to get by linguistically in all important everyday situations. Students usually require about 600 teaching hours to achieve the necessary command of the language in order to write the exam for the Zertifikat Deutsch successfully.

The ZD is recognised by most higher education institutions in Germany as proof that you have the required command of German to write the entrance examination for a "Studienkolleg".

You can find further information about the ZD / B1 examination at www.telc.net

At IfS, you may write the examination to achieve a ZD after completion of levels A1, A2 and B1. Our courses run for 200 teaching units at each level and are coordinated in such a way that you are optimally prepared for the ZD exam after a total of 600 teaching units.

You may in principle also enrol externally for the ZD exam at IfS, although we do recommend participation in a preparation course for a positive test experience.
