Getting here

The Institut für Sprachen is ideally situated in the city centre , only five minutes’ walk from the University on the edge of the pedestrian precinct. All important local authority  office buildings (town hall, foreign nationals’ office, student services, etc.) are also within easy walking distance. "Am Altmarkt" is one of the most central road, bus and tram junctions in Kassel, with mainline train stations only five minutes away (Kassel-Hauptbahnhof) or fifteen minutes (ICE-Bahnhof Kassel-Wilhelmshöhe) by bus or tram.

If you are traveling here by car, there are several possible routes to downtown Kassel from the motorway (Autobahn):

From the north

  • via A 7, take the exit "Kassel-Nord" and follow the signs to  "Stadtmitte".

From the south

  • via A 7, leave the motorway at  the exit "Kassel-Mitte" and follow the signs to "Stadtmitte".

From the west

  • via A44, take the exit '”Westkreuz Kassel' and follow the A49 in the direction of "Kassel-Stadtmitte"/ Hannover. Leave the motorway at the exit 'Kassel-Auestadion', then follow the signs in the direction of 'Stadtmitte'

If you are traveling by train, you will arrive at ICE station Kassel-Wilhelmshöhe. From there you can either take the tram 3 or 7 towards the town centre and get off at the stop ‘Altmarkt’; alternatively, take a minicab or taxi to the tram stop 'Altmarkt' instead. The stop "Altmarkt" is also served by trams no. 4, 6, and 8 and is on bus routes 14, 18, 19, 30, 32, 36, 37 and 39.
